Water Smart Palm Beach County invites you to a special event on March 30, highlighting water safety in Palm Beach County. Water Smart members will announce upcoming water safety activities and the availability of free swim lessons. This summer, there is more money than ever for needy families to receive free or reduced-cost swim lessons in Palm Beach County. In addition to announcing the availability of these free/reduced-cost swim lessons, two Palm Beach County Ocean-Rescue members will be honored with the Water Smart Hero Award for a dangerous rescue at the Jupiter Inlet in November.
The event will be held:
Thursday, March 30, 10 a.m.-11 a.m.
DeVos-Blum Family YMCA of Boynton Beach, 9600 S. Military Trail, Boynton Beach
Water Smart Palm Beach County is a group of more than 20 Palm Beach County organizations that came together two years ago to promote water safety. Leading the effort is the YMCA of South Palm Beach County and the Drowning Prevention Coalition of Palm Beach County.
Drowning is the leading cause of death for Florida children between the ages of 1 and 4. Swim lessons have been shown to dramatically reduce the risk of a child drowning.
Through awareness and education, we can make a difference.
