Frances McDormand Got Everyone On Their Feet

Here’s the big winners from last night’s Academy Awards :

Sam Rockwell won Best Supporting Actor for “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”

Allison Janney won Best Supporting Actor for “I, Tonya”

Jordan Peele won Best Original Screenplay for “Get Out”

Guillermo del Toro won Best Director for “The Shape of Water”

Gary Oldman won Best Actor for “Darkest Hour”

Frances McDormand won Best Actress for “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”

“The Shape of Water” won Best Picture.

But Frances McDormand delivered a powerful speech asking all female nominees to stand with her in solidarity. And she introduced the world to the phrase “inclusion rider”.   It’s a clause an actor or actress can put in their contract demanding that the cast and crew of a film be more diverse.
