Want to be spooked this Halloween? You don’t have to go very far! The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables was a popular destination for visitors in the ’20s and ’30s, however in the time since it has garnered a reputation for being a hot spot for supernatural activity. The hotel was the scene for the murder of gangster Thomas “Fatty” Walsh, and was also converted into a military hospital during World War II. These events are what many believe are responsible for its haunted history. Many visitors to the hotel have reported seeing ghosts and apparitions. Additionally, it is reported that the original elevator in the hotel will often rise to the 13th floor completely on its own. While this may seem like a technological error, it is somewhat peculiar because you’re required to enter a specific card key to gain access to the 13th floor!
