Suspect in Chainsaw Attack Punches Officer While in Holding

The 20 – year-old suspect who reportedly attacked a 64-year-old woman with a chainsaw earlier this week, was reportedly caught on camera attacking an officer at a local jail hours later.

Lantana Police shared a video of Juan Carlos Cabrera attacking the officer while he stood in the holding cell.

According to the report, the officer opened the holding cell to give Cabrera some crackers. Cabrera looks at the crackers and then punches the officer in the face. He then grabbed a wooden handle attached to the cell door key and hit the officer in the face with that. Another officer then rushes over and uses a taser to get the 20-year-old under control.

The first officer suffered cuts and swelling to his eye.

Cabrera was arrested on Tuesday of this week, after he attacked a 64-year-old outside of a Super Motel 8.  Cabrera told police that “he wanted to end this woman’s life.” According to the woman’s family, she has a long recovery but she is expected to fully heal.
