ABCThe COVID-19 pandemic may have put a damper on Mother’s Day, but Katy Perry, Halsey, John Legend and others gathered on Sunday — in the safety of their own homes, of course — to try and lift spirits in The Disney Family Singalong: Volume II.
Hosted again by Ryan Seacrest, a variety of talent saluted mothers everywhere while singing some of Disney’s most famous melodies.
Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner, along with Donald Glover and Walter Russell III, reprised their roles from the 2019 live-action remake of The Lion King for a rendition of “Hakuna Matata” to kick off the event.
Other highlights included Idina Menzel and Ben Platt combining for “A Whole New World,” the Oscar-winning song from from 1992’s The Little Mermaid. Halsey put her spin on another of the film’s memorable tunes, “Part of Your World.”
Perry sang “Baby Mine” from the 1941 Disney classic Dumbo; Legend teamed up with Jennifer Hudson for the title song from Beauty and the Beast; and Christina Aguilera combined with Miguel for “Remember Me,” the Academy Award winning song from Pixar’s 2017 animated feature, Coco.
Rebel Wilson, Keke Palmer, Shakira, Derek and Julianne Hough, Chloe x Halle and Anika Noni Rose, Sabrina Carpenter and Lang Lang, Josh Gad, and castmembers from Disney on Broadway also appeared.
