Local Teacher Fired for Allegedly Hitting 8-Year-Old in the Face

Authorities in Miami are investigating an incident were a teacher reportedly hit an 8-year-old student in the face with a ruler and then with a belt buckle.

The incident occurred Friday at B. Wright Leadership Academy.

According to the report from both the mother and the daughter, the teacher, who has not been identified,  hit the 8-year-old girl in the face with a ruler and then some time later she then took the girl into the kitchen and hit her in the face with a belt buckle because she believed the child stole a snack.

“She popped her with a ruler first, and then my child told me that she took her in the kitchen and hit her with the belt buckle,” said Miller.

Miller says her daughter was left with a swollen eye and a cut on her forehead, in addition to night terrors she is now experiences.

Despite the incident, the student’s mom says she doesn’t believe the teacher is a bad teacher but she wants to know what provoked her to attack her child like that.

“She’s not a bad teacher, to be exact, but I don’t know what caused her to attack my child that day,” she said. “She has lost all respect from me.”

School administrators have since released a statement regarding the incident and confirmed that the teacher has since been fired from her position.

Miller, however, says she’s already made the decision to remove her child from the school.
