Palm Beach County:
Palm Beach County Schools will remain open on Tuesday, along with student aftercare programs. Extracurricular activities such as athletic events and practices have been canceled.
School is closed Wednesday “in an abundance of caution.”
“We have been watching Hurricane Ian closely before making our decision to close schools,” Superintendent Mike Burke said. “While Palm Beach County is not currently included in the National Hurricane Center’s probability cone, hazardous conditions in our area may occur. I will continue to work closely with emergency managers and make timely decisions in the best interest of our students and staff.”
Martin County School District will remain open and said in a news release that it is closely monitoring the situation.
Okeechobee Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday. Thursday’s status will be determined based on Hurricane Ian’s impact, according to the school board.
