Queen Elizabeth II, the 96-year-old queen of the British kingdom is the first in British monarch history to reach a Platinum Jubilee. Reaching the Platinum Jubilee is the mark of 70 years on the throne. After the death of her father she ascended the throne in February of 1952. The Queen along with the family is celebrating from the Buckingham Palace balcony.
