SWAT Team Searching for Vero Murder Suspect at Sawgrass Mills

The SWAT team is swarming the Sawgrass Mills mall at this hour searching for a Vero Beach man wanted for killing his wife. He may be hiding in a van in the parking lot.

The Sunrise Police department is warning people to stay away from the area near the “Rooms To Go” due to police activity in the area.

Nearby Flamingo Road is shut down.

Police told WPLG that they now think that Pedro Torres is hiding in a van in the mall parking lot.

Indian River County Sheriff’s detectives said that Pedro Torres fled the area after his wife, 45-year-old Vicky Torres, was found dead early Sunday morning inside their Vero Beach home.

Preliminary evidence suggests that Pedro Torres killed her before leaving, according to detectives.

Torres is known to frequently visit Broward County and is believed to currently be in the area. He may be driving a 2011 light green Toyota Sienna with Florida tag Y06IVL.

Authorities warn that Torres is dangerous and may be armed.

If you have any information about Torres’ whereabouts you are asked to contact your local police department or the Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-TIPS (8477) .
