SWAT Team Secures Scene at Sawgrass Mills, Body Found

The SWAT team has secured the scene at the Sawgrass Mills mall at this hour after finding a body that may be Vero Beach man wanted for killing his wife.

A body believed to be that of Vero Beach murder suspect Pedro Torres was found Monday inside a van in a parking lot near the Sawgrass Mills mall, police said.

The Sunrise Police department is warning people to stay away from the area near the “Rooms To Go” due to police activity in the area.

Indian River County Sheriff’s detectives said that Pedro Torres fled the area after his wife, 45-year-old Vicky Torres, was found dead early Sunday morning inside their Vero Beach home.

Preliminary evidence suggests that Pedro Torres killed her before leaving, according to detectives.

Torres is known to frequently visit Broward County and is believed to currently be in the area. He may be driving a 2011 light green Toyota Sienna with Florida tag Y06IVL.

Authorities warn that Torres is dangerous and may be armed.
